Celia & Ascha Jane(Jennie)md Geo Bancroft were daughters of John R Mills b 1826 Compton Que & Jane E Aldous b 1823 Gouverneur md 3-12 1851- both buried S. Russell NY Jane was oldest daughter of Stephen Aldous Janes sister Esther Aldous b 3-28-1835 Gouv. NY died 1-10-1919 Joplin MO. Married 10-29-1856 in Gouv. to Henry Mills (Brother of John R) b 3-11-1835 in Durham Que died Thayer KS 1-14 1906 Note Compton & Durham are within approx 25 miles of Sherbrooke Que. Have a 1941 letter from Aldous Mills (Henrys Grandson) states lore that Henrys Grandfather John Mills was wounded at battle of Saratoga Rev War 1777-he was b 1753 VT ? The family tale of Stephen Aldous is that he served in the British Army in Canada War of 1812 ?-found out he had enlisted for LIFE instead of 5 years- so he rowed across St Lawrence River to settle in Gouv. Have copy of 1822 letter from his parents in Wilby Eng referring to relatives there.
