I haven't been able to find James, Sr.'s death either, not in Canada so far, but could be in Morristown bet. 1870 and 1874 when Margaret was a widow. For sure, his death is between 1866 and 1874, if Allen is his child. I think I will start with town of Oswegatchie for baptisms. If they are like my Quebec relatives,though, even if child born in USA, always brought back to Canada for baptism. Having had no luck in Canada, I will try Oswegatchie Town Clerk. PS. Margaret's brother Robert's nephew by marriage Charles Johnston moved to Potsdam and married Margaret O'Leary, daughter of John O'Leary and Katherine Dailey.
