My great-grandfather Sylvester Baron Partridge started out in the 92d NY Inf. (Later he joined the Signal Corps, which I'm told has been succeeded by higher technology) Yes, I do have copies of his letters which I can send. He was a terrific communicator. After the war he and his wife, Henrietta (Etta) Earl, went to China to serve as American Baptist missionaries in Swatow (now Shantou). My late grandfather, Earl Partridge, was born there. I am told my grandfather spoke Chinese before he learned English. His daughter, my mom, Eleanor Earl Partridge Wright, is still around at age 94, and living near me in Philadelphia.
