I am a Taillon descendant also, through Joseph Taillon's son, Michael. Recently I found baptismal records on Michael and his brother, Isaac. Both were baptized in St. Hyacinthe, St-Denis sur Richelieu; the records list the USA as Michael's birhtplace, and Grand Isle, VT, as Isaac's. Here's my problem: I can't seem to get anywhere with the in-laws, the Trombles. Michael married Matilda Tromble, while his sister, Betsy, married Alexander Tromble (both in 1843). On the 1850 Dickinson Township census you find both couples and their children, parents, siblings, and in-laws on one page, suggesting that they all lived in proximity to each other. There is also a Joseph Tromble with his wife, Mary Jarvis (m. 1842, Malone, Franklin Co. NY), and their children, on this same page. It seems likely to me that these Trombles (Matilda, Joseph, and Alexander) are related somehow, perhaps as siblings or cousins. I have birth dates on all of them, but for birth place: Canada E. So far I cannot locate birth records. I presume they were all baptized Catholic, but there are an awful lot of Catholic parishes in Quebec. There are a lot of Josephs, Alexanders and Matildas among the Trombles. I was able to find possible parents for Alexander and Joseph from their Civil War pension records: Each lists Stephen Tromble as father, but Joseph lists Angeline Bushey as mother, while Alexander lists Catherine Bushey. It gets weirder. In the Dickinson civil records of 1849 there is a Stephen Trombley, age 63, married to an Angeline Taylor, age 40. Could this be the same Angeline Taylor who married Randall? Was she widowed? Is this Stephen the father of Alexander and Joseph? Do you have any leads on the Trombles of Dickinson Township?
