Hi list, I'm trying to find the name of cemetery in Parishville where Sophia SMITH was buried. She died in Parishville June 19, 1855. She was married to Silsby SMITH. I have tried Google to find interments for Parishville but nothing comes up. I have also searched old newspapers that I subscribe to but haven't found an obit to help me. I have even done a Google search for her name and all I find is the general BMD info I already have but not where she was buried. Sophia was born in Acworth, NH. Her maiden name was CUMMINGS. I have also checked the St. Lawrence List Archives and the Genweb without any luck. She is not listed yet on Find A Grave. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if her husband was sent back to NY for burial. He moved to Michigan later on and died there. I haven't found his burial, either. Silsby died February 21, 1895 in Reece, Michigan. Reference is made by a granddaughter Catherine did have twins and triplets. Since Joseph and Catherine had 26 children (and B,M and D Records were not available for that era) it is hard to prove the exact age of all the children and who the twins/triplets are. I am also working on John Watson (oldest brother to our Joseph Watson) who married and returned to Canada. He did at that time live in Edwardsburg. Records indicate that he was the eldest son of Major and Mary (Polly) Watson and would of been B abt 1783. It is a possible that he is the John Watson buried in Spencerville Cemetery (next to the Legion Branch) and the tombstone is standing. However it does not show the name of his wife. I was in Canada a week ago and went back through the Cemetery. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have found some information online stating that Milo Weston 1) built the chimney for this church when it opened about 1877 and 2) "The Seventh Day Adventists of Pierrepont organized a church June 28, 1874, with Milo Western, Orange Chollar and Arden Eels as trustees." seen at http://history.rays-place.com/ny/pierrepont-ny.htm. I believe 'Western' is a misspelling as Milo Weston's son Orvin Weston married Orange Coller's daughter Rhoda Coller, and also Milo Weston had a second wife, Ann Elizabeth Barlow Eells, mother to an Arden Eells. Milo died 5 Mar 1892 according to his obit, and Sarah Wheelock Weston on 20 Apr 1883 according to her obit. The NY vital records have been checked and no death record has been found for either. Their son Orvin Weston is buried in Beech Plains as well as various Eells and Coller family members and I am willing to bet they are as well. I have found this website for the Beech Plains Church : http://www.beechplainsfreechurch.org/ however there is no contact info listed. I can not find the church in any phone directory either. Does anyone know who I may contact about church and cemetery records ? I also have some possible leads as to other family members (brothers, parents) so I would be interested in any other Westons there as well. Thanks in advance, Kelly Ermis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
