My error. Joel Rowland born 1770 and not 1790 Their daughter, Mariah Rowland married Oliver Hastings, Jr. They married 4 July 1824 in Champion, Jefferson Co, New York. I believe I received their marriage date about 1964 from Albert Earl Rowland. I will have to check those records to verify the marriage. Oliver Rowland date of birth came from a book, "Hastings Memorial" which is now on line and reads: V. Oliver Hastings, born November 23, 1755; married Dorothy ----. They had 6 children, viz.: Richard, born February 16, 1782, married December 7, 1805, Wealthy Rice Polly Hastings, born Januarhy 12, 1787 States Hastings, born June 10, 1788 Warren Hastings, born March 1, 1791 Onepomas Hastings, born January 22, 1793 Oliver Hastings, born October 1796" Oliver Hastings and Mariah Rowland Hastings are buried in the Edwardsville Cemetery, Morristown, St Lawrence Co., New York. Shelene Atkinson, a descendant of Oliver and Mariah Hasting through their daughter Mary Hastings, cleaned the stone with water and took photos as she lives in the area. They are very readable now. The stone reads, "Mariah Rowland, wife of Oliver Hastings. "They are also shown on Find-A-Grave but the stones are unreadable. It appears we are speaking of the same person. I have never seen her name listed as "Hannah Maria" only as Mariah, Maria but it is certainly possible. See the census below: 1850 Census, Macomb, St. Lawrence Co, NY, Pg 58A,#88 Hastings, Oliver, age 55, farmer born Mass -------. Maria, age 45 born Mass -------. Eliza, age 18, born NY -------. Mary, age 16, born NY -------. Lorinda, male, age 14, born NY -------. Lucy, age 8, born NY Maria Rowland, daughter of Joel Rowland and Lucy Wood descends back to Governor William Bradford of the Mayflower thru Lucy Wood. The line has been proven down to Generation Nine in the Mayflower Lineage--MS #33,849 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My Hannah Maria Rowland (b. 1803 in Lanesborough, MA) married Oliver Hastings, Jr. (b. 1796). With the dates you show for Joel Rowland (b. 1790), you might be talking about her brother - not her father (since your Joel would have been 13 when she was born). Do you have a photo of her headstone to confirm it was Mariah vs Hannah Maria? Thanks so much for this information. Searching it has helped me to find most of the obits on Marion Tiernan's sisters, and her 2 brothers, as well as some marriage info on 1 or 2 sisters. I have no obit for Marion Tiernan, whose married name was Carletta. I have learned her last address was Carson City, Nevada. She did have contact with her family in St. Lawrence (waddington) even in the 1930s and beyond, while she was married. I have no specifics on her own wedding date and her own obit. She may be buried out in Carson City, Nevada. I believe that James Carletta was from Rome, NY and that they lived there, maybe, in the 1930s-1940s-1950s?? I have more to research!
