The Loughrey family lived from the early 1800s in Louisville Landing area. In 1837 Charles Loughrey, my 3G-grandfather died and was buried in the old cemetery in Louisville. I have not been able to find his widow Catherine (Barkley) subsequent to his death. Did she re-marry? Their daughter, my gg-grandmother, Ann Jemima Watson Loughrey, was married in Ogdensburgh in 1836 to Samuel Bell of Prescott, Ontario. Any ideas? Fran
From The History of St. Lawrence County, I found several references to a George Wells. Not exactly what you're looking for but maybe it can give you some new directions. George R. Wells, from Madrid, St. Lawrence Co., NY commanded a militia company during the War of 1812 at Waddington, Ogdensburg & Sacket's Harbor George Wells helped found Free-Will Baptist Church at Pierrepont Centre on September 14, 1850 George Wells built a shingle mill in 1870 at Fort Jackson on the east branch of St. Regis River George Wells, private, Captain David Day Jr.' s Company B, enrolled September 10, 1861 at Ogdensburg George Wells, private, Captain Winslow M. Thomas' Company D, enrolled September 12, 1861 at Ogdensburg. Either George enrolled twice or we have a possible father-son enrollment. The St Lawrence County Historical Association has good resources for genealogy in St Lawrence County, and they will undertake research for you for a reasonable fee. Their website is: http://slcha.org/ Also, try the St Lawrence County GenWeb page: http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Enystlawr/

Their children were Emelina, Mary, Nancy, Susan/Susannah, Barton, Martin, William, Betsey, and Samuel. (Census from Macomb, County of St. Lawrence, NY 1850; Cedar Twp, County Mitchell, Iowa in 1860 & 1870). On the 1850 census, there is an older woman in the household. I think it says "Betsey Makim", 85. Possibly Margaret's mother? Samuel is my "line". I have one photo of Samuel and his wife Sarah and their eight children as young adults. I would be happy to email you that photo if you're interested. I have just "met" a second cousin who is interested in the Hutchins family.

From what I have been able to uncover, a number of the Jenkins offspring wound up here in Wisconsin, as did Uriah's family ultimately.
