Hi Vince Have you been to your local LDS Family History Library? If not I would suggest that it might be a good idea to order records from this from the Congregational Church that was located there. Also there are Cemetery Records available. Both are on Micro-film and prior to Vital Records church and Cemetery records are among you best ways to document a Vital. Also in Canton NY is the County Court House and they have all the early records for Land and Early Will Records. The Court House would also have Probate Records even if a Will was not filed. You could write to them for information. Another source would be to contact the Village or Town Clerk in Stockholm and see if they have any information regarding Ephraim Knapp/Knap. They have a great deal of information on early settlers. Last but not least is to contact the St Lawrence County Historical Society and see if any Family Folder exists or if other information is available. See http://www.slcha.org/ and write to them for information that might be available. There is a slight charge but remember they are also Non Profit and the employee's are all volunteers, so a small donation is always appreciated. Regards Pat Regan

At the time of his death on 19 October 1841, he was living with his son Moses, in Stockholm (aka Knapp's Station), St. Lawrence County, New York. The only possible clue I have is that that Rachel and Sarah J. Knapp (wife and daughter) of Moses died 8 Sep 1841 and 29 Sep 1841 respectively. Both are buried at Hale Cemetery vicinity of Knapp's Station. If his burial site can be found it is my intent to register it with the SAR for proper marking and registration. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Vince Knapp 6th Great Grandson of Ephraim
Glad to see that someone else is rescueing old photos, like I have been doing that for awhile. A couple of things-she, Mrs. Bibbins, may have gone by a nick name or her middle name. Hence the initial M. Or, he might have gone by a middle name-can you blame him with a first name like that? Second, it's great that you posted here. Have you posted on USGENWEB on the county sites for Illinois and Minnesota? Also, check to see if GenForum has a Bibbins forum. Post under the other surnames mentioned too. You may connect up with descendants from that direction too. Kindredconnections, CousinConnections and others can help as far as posting the information. Good luck in your search for members of this family. I would try the churches in Ogdensburg during the period for a possible baptismal record. To help with finding relatives, the Ogdensburg library has some city directories. I am not sure of the dates covered, but you might want to call the library and see what is available timewise. A check of years 1866 to about 1882 might turn up some McNeeley families that are possible parents to your person. Have you tried the Ogdensburg census for 1870 and 1880 looking for Catherine? If you find a daughter of the approximate age, you likelly have the parents names which will help in your further searching. The LDS has the index for the 1880 census online at www.familysearch.org

I've "rescued" a group of old photographs which appear to all belong to the BIBBINS Family of New York, Illinois, and Minnesota. The first is identified as Mrs. M. BIBBINS, Mother of Julius and Melvin BIBBINS. The photograph is dated Aug 3rd and notes that the subject is 74 years old at the time it was taken, likely in the 1870's or 1880's. The photograph was taken at the Mads Sogaard Studio in Chatfield, MN. Based on limited research I do find record of Julius BIBBINS and Melvin Hull BIBBINS, sons of Eliphas or Eliphay BIBBINS and Laura W. HAWLEY. Melvin Hull BIBBINS was b. 25 Jan 1829 in St. Lawrence County, NY and his brother Julius in 1847 in Illinois. The mystery is why is she referenced as "Mrs. M. BIBBINS" if her first name was Laura and her husband was Eliphas or Eliphay? Records indicate that Melvin Hull BIBBINS married Sarah Jane HAWLEY on 8 Mar 1853 in Mount Carroll, IL and died 1 Feb 1899 in Chatfield, MN. During the 1880 census the couple was living in Chatfield, MN with his Mother, Laura W. BIBBINS, age 75, born in NY to NY born parents. Melvin was listed as age 51, born in NY, a Farmer whose father was born in CT and mother in NY. His wife Sarah Jane is noted as age 51, born in NY to NY born parents. Julius J. BIBBINS married Elvira SILSBEE on 8 Dec 1874 in Fillmore Co., MN. During the 1880 census the couple was living in Orion, MN with a daughter, Lina E. BIBBENS age 4 months, born in MN. Julius was listed as age 32, born in IL to parents born in MA. His wife Elvira was listed as age 23, born in MN to parents born in IL and PA respectively. Does the difference in location for his parents mean anything? The second photograph is one of Nelie TROW BIBBINS, taken at the S. Farrell Studio in Chatfield, MN, probably in the 1880's with Nelie likely in her 20's at the time. The third photograph is identified as Sidney BIBBINS, taken at the Hoard & Tenneys Studio in Winona, MN. It was probably taken in the 1880's with Sidney looking to be in his 20's at the time it was taken. I believe that this third photograph may be of Sidney Edgar BIBBINS b. 8 Feb 1855 at Mount Carroll, IL to parents Melvin Hull BIBBINS and Sarah Jane HAWLEY. Sidney married Sarah Jane EVERTS on 15 May 1880, and died 19 Aug 1929 in Pasadena, CA. Along with these photographs were three unidentified photographs: 1 - Female, taken at the E. E. Bertrand Studio in Chatfield, MN, 1870's, looks to be in her 20's 2 - Male, taken at the Stone's Great Northern Photo Studio in Potsdam, NY, 1880's, looks to be in his 60's 3 - Female, taken at the D. R. Miller Studio in Mount Carroll, IL, 1870's or 1880's, looks to be in her teens I'm hoping to see all of these photographs returned to the BIBBINS Family so that they can once again be in the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
I am more confused than before about my Michael O'Connor who is missing in action in St. lawrence County. I did some reading on the old newspapers on line and it appears that the Catherine in West Stockholm was not his widow. In her obit it says her husband was a Daniel. Okay, back to square one. I am going back to searching for him in Canton. His niece. my gr grandaunt, married a Desmond in Canton and his daughter married an Ames and they lived in Canton. I am so disappointed since I was sure I had found aunt Catherine, widow of Michael. I will have to continue the search. thanks all who tried to help. marg
