It contains searchable images of Federal census, several thousand genealogical books, all of which are searchable by name, etc; Persi index; Rev War Pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Application Files. In short, a great asset! If you have a library card with a bar code, the code number is all you need... If your library is not automated, the librarian can give you the number you need. You could thank the Library System with a thanks to your favorite legislator. (They didn't ask me to add that.) Have fun! V Hoyt

He was born, March 7, 1812, in St. Andrew (Now St Andre-Est) in Argenteuil county Quebec. He was the son of Edward Thayer and Marie Anne Valcour dit Morin. He had 3 siblings. Infant died abt 1811, Edward b.June 28, 1814 and Marie Anne born March 23, 1819. It is likely that John's mother died giving birth to Marie Anne or shortly afterwards. John's younger brother Edward later lived in Bangor, Franklin County, New York with his wife Minerva and 1 daughter. John's father, Edward married again in 1820 to Francoise Brunet. It appears that the children of the first marriage went to live somewhere else than in the new matrimonial home. There were a lot of Brunets around St. Andrew and they show up in a lot of the same records as Edward. Later on Edward and Francoise moved to Aylmer Quebec. He is buried in St. Pauls cemetery. Francoise remaried after his death to a Mr. Pariseau. When her second husband died, she moved to Saginaw Michigan to be with one of her sons. Her step-son John also appears to have moved to Michigan. I have not been able to locate Edward's father. When Edward's son Charles died in Washington after living in Michigan - his death certificate indicated his father was originally from Vermont.
