Hello, does anyone have access to the 1925 New York Census? I am looking to see if there is a Frederick Reginald Grinstead born 1900 England listed in Massena. The 1930 Census has his immigration date as 1923 but I wish to prove that it is the US immigration date from Canada and not the Canadian immigration date from England. Thanks, Audrie Miller

According to dates in his CW pension file, the earliest was November 10, 1891, the date an affidavit was signed by CHARLES H BERRY of 1318 Charles Street in Lacrosse WI who was in the same regiment as Hiram but in Company, H, with Hiram's brother. These men were originally from St Lawrence Co who knew each other and were NY soldiers in the Civil War. He lived at 818 Mill Street in Lacrosse WI which is in Lacrosse County. Another affidavit was signed January 16, 1892 by FRANK J CLEMENTS with an address of 225 Vine Street in Lacrosse WI who knew Hiram and was in the same 16th NY Inf Co F with him. Everyone, I received this from an Irish research group. Happy hunting. Carol Veio Searching: LEVIEU, VIEO, VIAU ------------------------------------- ubject: Search engine for thousands of archives Just through May 31st, there is free use of a search engine which can access the catalogs of thousands of archives globally (I have seen Irish, Australian, Canadian, and U.S. collections). This is where I found the thesis which I posted earlier today on Limerick educational institutions, so it is not limited to books. Be sure to read how to do phrases/terms, and give yourself at least three hours to go through it. http://archivegrid.org/web/jsp/index.jsp

HIRAM C HAMMOND, according to his Civil War pension file, died September 6, 1918. Initially we thought he died in Norwood NY, however, Norwood NY has no record of his death, nor does Norfolk NY nor Potsdam NY nor the NY Vital Records in Albany NY. His CW pension file lists him as having PO adresses in both Norwood NY and West Stockholm NY. Inasmuch as Norwood does not have his death information, he may have died in West Stockholm NYand was buried there. Are there any listings for cemeteries in West Stockholm NY? HIRAM C HAMMOND was born 1837 in Stockholm NY. He was a Civil War veteran, 16th NY Inf Co F and also re-enlisted in Co D 13th NY Vol Calvary. He was married to Elizabeth and they had daughters, Minnie, Clara & Cynthia. He also had a son. He lived in Wisconsin for a short time. My research indicates Hiram is most likely part of our Hammond family who lived in St Lawrence County NY and we would appreciate any information on his parents, his descendants and his place of death/burial. Thank you. Cindy
