Surnames: DOUD, PAGE, PERKINS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/2RB.2ACE/3007.3329.1.1.3.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Lois we did have contact before. I do believe that William Doud that married Caroline Louise Perkins, was first the spouse of Phillinda Page Doud, and that he is the same person. The 1880 US North Platte Lincoln, Nebraska census gives the following information: William W. Doud, born 1831, age 49, New York, father born Vermont, mother, born New York. His wife was Caroline Elizabeth (PERKINS) Doud, age 24, born Kentucky,. They were the parents of one daughter, Florence Marie Doud, born 4 October 1876, in Nebraska. Florence Doud lived to be 90 years of age - - and I am waiting for a copy of the obituary. I had traced William W. Doud back through the various census, including the 1850 US Stockholm, Saint Lawrence, NY census where his father gives his place of birth as Vermont, and his mother gives her place of birth as New York. I found that William Wesley Doud filed for a civil war pension, 29 June 1880. He died in 1882 and is buried in the North Platte City Cemetery, North Platte, Nebraska. I have more information that I have recently found, so if you would like to contact me directly, that would be great.

I have been to the Ogdensburg Cemetery site, and found all three of George's wives in there, plus two of the children he had with Rebecca Prosser; George W. and Jane Arnold. Another son, John T. (or P.) Arnold is found later in Manitowoc, Wisconsin with a German wife, Bertha Spindler and a son, Harry J. Arnold. John died in his home in Manitowoc in 1910. Another step-brother, G.S. Arnold, (son of George Arnold and Mary Chapin?) ended up in Seattle, Washington, and was living there in 1910. Thanks again for your response. Marie Arnold was in Ontario Province with her husband, John Whiteoak until around 1865 when they migrated to Minnesota with two sons, Richard Arnold Whiteoak and William Allan Whiteoak. 1. Families in Massena, N.Y.
    2. Renne M Blocker
    3. I am researching the following names in Massena NY: SHERWOOD, PREMO,LEWISH,MURCH. My mother was born Inez M. SHERWOOD on 13 Mar 1929 in Massena, NY to Maude Pearl LAVIOLETTE and HAROLD AYERS SHERWOOD. Her brothers are: JOHN LEWIS SHERWOOD and GEORGE ROSS SHERWOOD. Inez SHERWOOD first married Sherman PREMO of Massena(or surrounding areas) in 1948. She had two sons, Melvyn and Phillip PREMO. She then married Herbert HARRINGTON of Syracuse, N.Y. and they had two children. I can't get very far back in history as my mom never knew any of her family history. Harold A. SHERWOOD was born 22 Oct 1904 in Cornwall Canada to WILLIAM SHERWOOD and HARRIET MURCH. He married MAUDE PEARL LAVIOLETTE in 1926 in Massena N.Y. I can find his family in 1910 & 1920 in Massena, N.Y.'s census so they must have settled in Massena when he was a young boy. His father, WILLIAM SHERWOOD was born 1878 in Cornwall Canada and died between 1917-1920 in Massena, N.Y. as a result of the flu. William SHERWOOD and HARRIET MURCH had the following children: Ethel b: 1901, William b: 1903 Harold b: 1904 Ernest b: 1908 Helen b: abt 1909-1910 Violet b: 1913 Paul b: 1915 Barbara b: 1917. By the 1920 census Harriet MURCH SHERWOOD is widowed with 8 children. HAROLD SHERWOOD died 1969 in Massena and his wife Maude P. Sherwood died in 1986. William SHERWOOD married Mabel(?) and ran a dairy farm. Ethel SHERWOOD married Sidney BROWN and lived in Massena to be quite elderly. Helen married ED LEWIS and lived her life in Massena. Barbara and Violet and Paul SHERWOOD moved to California and I don't know what became of ERNEST SHERWOOD. I have searched through Northern NY papers on the web and Newspaper Archives.com and haven't found anything on the aforementioned families. I would like to know any PREMO information for my 2 half brothers. Sherman's parents were Carl and Gladys PREMO. I would love to be able to get unstuck and find out any information on William SHERWOOD and Harriet MURCH so that I may go back in history on the family tree. Any information you can give me on these families will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Renne Blocker

    1. HALL, Thomas S Jr.
    2. I believe the Thomas Hall listed on the 1860 Ogdensburg census (Ogdensburg, St Lawrence, NY, 1st ward, pg 284 age 27) with William and Henry Hall is the man I am looking for. William and Henry would be his brothers. Thomas had a son named Thomas Winthrop Hall born in Ogdensburg 13 Nov 1862. I am trying to locate the name of the wife/mother of these two Thomas, possibly Fannie. If anyone is researching the Hall family from Jefferson and St Lawrence counties or descendants of Daniel Whipple Church, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Julia Moore

The first listed, Anne Cady's, I think is the largest. You don't mention what locality this cemetery is in; maybe if you posted a town and a few more details, somebody might recognize it and/or know an alternate name for it.
