I use the snapshot (camera icon) and snap the name of the newspaper first and bring it to the word document, then the date of the newsaper, the page number then where the article was found if it was not a major heading like the town, corresponding news etc. then I take the newspaper article and snap the picture and drop that in the word document. When the article is too long for one page or it shrinks too small I go back to the newspaper and enlarge the article and only take small pieces at a time of the article and bring it over to the document. This way I can easily reproduce the article for my scrapbook or transcribe it for my family tree software. The last thing I do is at the bottom of the word document is type my name, todays date and give credit to the web site for sourcing. I usually do the snapshot thing then open a new blank Word doc and then 'paste' into the Word doc. You can paste multiple articles into a word doc and then email them to others if you want. Just wondered if anyone else has done that or has other tips and techniques to share. They will work similarly in some other versions, also. Open the PDF document you wish to print. On the toolbar click the Snapshot tool -- the icon for it looks like a camera. Your cursor turns into crosshairs. Position the crosshairs at one corner of the article you wish to print. Then drag your cursor to the corner diagonally opposite so that the whole article is enclosed. When you release the mouse button you will get a message saying that the selected area has been copied to the clipboard. If you make a mistake, just start over with the Snapshot tool. When you're satisfied that the article has been correctly selected, click the Print button. This will print only the selected portion. You may find some articles are too long for 8 1/2 x 11" paper. In that case, you may want to break up the article into sections. Is it possible your Ogdensburg Pom's are related to mine? My ancestor, Silas Pomeroy b. 1764 passed through northern NY (Clinton County: Plattsburgh in the 1790s, owned land in Chateaugay until some time before 1810, and then ended up in Northumberland County, Ontario, by about 1811). I believe that all of his children moved with him. Silas' wife was Sarah Stone. Silas' half-brother, Abner 2nd Pomeroy b. 1782, was also in Clinton and Franklin Counties: Plattsburgh (1800) to Mooers (1810) to Malone to Ft. Covington, and finally to Massena in St. Lawrence County (1850 census). I know nothing of the children of Abner 2nd, and that is why your posting interests me. Is you Pomeroy ancestor linked to either Silas or Abner? The father of both Silas and Abner 2nd is Abner Pomeroy b. 1734. He came to Plattsburgh, NY after the Revolution and apparently died near there between 1810-1820. The older Abner supposedly had another son whose name was Oliver Pomeroy, b. 1762, and I do not know if he lived to adulthood, married, or had descendants. Abner had several daughters. Counties do have naturalization records. Note that naturalization is voluntary so your ancestor may or may not be listed. The national archives has a very informative website that may help. Finally, it appears to posted your query to the wrong county message board. You reference Jefferson county, make no mention of St. Lawrence county but posted to the St. Lawrence county message board. Burial was in the Beech Plains cemetery. Death was due to the infirmities of old age and occurred Feb. 4th at Potsdam hospital, where he had been a patient for a few days. Previously, he had been cared for by his daughter-in- law, Mrs. Mayfred Cochran Stratton. Mr. Stratton was born at Constable, N.Y., son of Almon and Alvelia Peck Stratton. He moved into this section as a young man and married Miss Elsie Selleck, sister Of George Selleck of Selleck’s Corners. During their married life, they spent some years in North and South Dakota, but most of their life was spent as Pierrepont farmers. Mrs. Stratton died in 1926. Mr. Stratton became a member of Zion Episcopal church, Colton, in 1940. Survivors are two sons, Myron and Charles, both of Colton, Rt. 1, and several grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Hogle, died a few years ago.
