I do appreciate it. I was hoping someone could tell me about the Rebecca Dutton who died in 1849. I am looking for a Rebecca Stearns from NH that MIGHT have married Reuben Dutton. Many times brothers from one family married sisters from another family. I am from the Stearns family and have a Dolly Stearns that married a Moses Dutton in NH. They went to Ft. Covington NY, Ill., and settled in Paw Paw Mich. Dolly had a sister, Rebekah, but I haven't been able to find her after 1820 in NH. Another sister Susan married a Crowell and had a son named Harvey. I found a record of him that said he went to Massena NY to visit his UNCLE, Reuben Dutton. It all makes sense. I found a Rebecca Dutton that died in 1849 in Massena and would like to think that is my Rebekah. I was hoping that Massena might have a town history book that might say where they came from, etc, Thanks agin, Leslie Stearns Mason
There is a transcription of the 1870 census at the county site under usgenweb.org. Click 'New York' then select a county and select St. Lawrence county. From that site clidk 'select a link' and choose census or 'anne cady'. There is a transcription of the 1880 census for the entire country at www.familysearch.org. Click 'advanced search' then 'census' then select the 1880 census. HAIGHT, of Parishville, St. Lawrence County, New York, died in Potsdam, St. Lawrence County, New York, August 1st, 1859, in the 35th year of her age. Sister Haight spent the last years of her life in the village of Potsdam, where she greatly endeared herself to the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was an eminently devoted and consistent Christian. With her, religion was a reality----a soul saving reality. Her end was eminently triumphant and glorious. She asked those who surrounded her dying bed to shout with her the praise of God; and in this happy frame of mind she passed away beyond the reach of pain and sorrow. This is a new thread for me, so I don't have much else to go on. My interst stems from Samuel Barrows (age 73) listed as a Revolutionary War pensioner in the same household. This Samuel Barrows had a daughter Sarah Ann b. abt 1814. I am certain about this being the Samuel Barrows I'm interested in due to appropriate age and other document placing his death in Russell. The rest of the family (that I know of) lived in Jefferson Co. The IGI lists a marriage between a John Kelsey (b. 27 Aug 1815, Winfield, Herkimer Co., NY) and Sarah L. or Sopronia Barrows. Thanks for any assistance on this.

Just happened across this site today. Quite extraordinary. To be involved in the American Revolution and live to 1840 is something. Lots of good info here. http://www.usgennet.org/usa/topic/colonial/census/1840/index.html Russ Sprague Kensington, Maryland
Hi Russ It is great as a clue, however one must realize that it cannot be used as a document since it is a transcription of the original record. Whereas the Census record is the document needed. Pat R
I recently added some unindexed images of church records from the Ogdensburg Methodist Church. These are pdf images and you will need the Adobe reader (free download) to view them. Once you click on a link to the image, you can expand the image size to 100% and higher for greater readability. I have many more to upload and generally get around to it on weekends. That pesky full time job keeps taking up time! I also recently added more Gouverneur Methodist church records which are fully indexed by surname. Just prior to that I added hundreds of new names to the Norfolk Methodist church records which are also fully indexed. All Methodist is just a coincidence. Always happy to hear about available records from any denomination. The Gouverneur, Methodist and other towns are transcriptions rather than images. As time permits (or if some volunteer offers) I will create an all name index to the Ogdensburg images. It's not rocket science and if anyone reading this has been thinking about learning some basic html, I can get you started and you can create indexes for uploading. A very big thanks to Barb Littlebrandt (Gouverneur) who has copied records to paper and now to pdf images. Also to Dave Payne (lives in Washington state) who transcribed so many records from paper to excel sheets so quickly that I am weeks behind him in getting records uploaded (Norfolk). To view these records, visit the county page at www.usgenweb.org. Click 'new york' then 'select a county' then pick St. Lawrence county. There are many more Ogdensburg and Gouverneur records I still need to upload. The other churches listed are complete. Russ Sprague Kensington, Maryland
