    3. Wow - that is a trip to the past and a look to the future. In 1960 it asks for various housing value ranges where the top dollar amount is $35,000 plus. Hmmm, now what would I get in the metro DC area for that kind of money? Based on a quick look, I think the last time the whole nation got the same questionnare was 1950. If the current methods stay put (census released after 70 years), that one will become public in 2020. I think after that things will go downhill somewhat as sampling was used rather than the census bureau trying to 'touch' every household. Fortunately there are many other records to search - church, newspaper, cemetery, wills, land records, etc. that cover the 10 year gaps between the cenuses. I wish I had saved a copy or taken notes regarding the questions I was asked to compare with. But, I only did that the last time. However here is the website that I use for reference regarding information that will be on these Census when the time comes to release them and I believe it is as close as one can get to the accurate questions asked on each Census year. http://www.ipums.umn.edu/usa/voliii/tEnumForm.html Warm Regards Pat R.

    3. I am curious whether anyone knows how many more censuses after 1930 cover the entire U.S. population and lists parents with children. I don't believe I have seen templates for the 1940, 1950, 1960 etc censuses. I know eventually they stopped covering the entire US and started using long forms and short forms. Just wondered if anyone knew when that cutover was. It will be 'the end of an era' that began with the 1850 census spelling out family relationships. Below there is no mention of 1890. I was not a married adult in 1890 :O Rsus From: "tgiven" <tgiven@twcny.rr.com> To: "Russell Sprague" <russxsprague@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: [NYSTLAWR] Looking ahead in Genealogy Date: Sat, 6 May 2006 16:32:39 -0400 Are you referring to the 1890 census? 1. Mary Corey TOUSLEY
    2. As copied from the Lake Placid News issue of 26 June 1917: Mary Louise Tousley, wife of the late Maitland Tousley of Helena, St Lawrence county, died at the home of her son, Leon Tousley, in Newman on Thursday, June 21, at the age of 67 years. She is survived by two sons, Leon and Guy of the place, one daughter, Mrs. B. S. Tryon of Helena, one brother, William Corey of Adams Center and two sisters, Mrs. William Dobbin of Wolcott, Wayne county, and Mrs. John Dobbin of Red Creek, Wayne county. Following the death of her husband about six years ago, Mrs. Tousley had been keeping house for her son, Leon, in Newman. She had been remarkably well for a woman of her age until a short time ago. She did not take to her bed until about ten days before her death. A short prayer service was held at the home of Leon Tousley in Newman Friday morning, June 22, Rev. W. M. Morrow officiating. The body was taken to Helena, where the funeral service was held and burial took place.

    3. I am seeking information about James Westurn (b. 1760 in Tiverton, England), his wife Ann Hayford (b. 1760 in Mass.) and their children. My ggg grandmother Cerena J. Westurn born in 1843 was the daughter of Freeman Westurn and Eliza Marble, then living in Geauga County, Ohio. I strongly suspect that James was Freeman's grandfather but am having difficulty making the connection. Can anyone help? Thanks, Danette

    1. Ogdensburg Marriage Records 1850's to 1860's
    2. Russell Sprague
    3. I just uploaded several pdf images of marriage records from the Ogdensburg, NY Methodist church. From www.usgenweb.org, click 'New York' the select a county, St. Lawrence county. When you reach the county page use the drop down list 'select a link' and select 'church' then 'Church Records of St. Lawrence County'. A grand title to be sure since I have just a handful of churches but hey, I keep plugging away at it! If you search enough you may find a note by a really annoyed pastor who apparently unknowingly married a bigamist. These are particularly valuable records since the counties did not record marriages until 1880 with the exception of a brief earlier period (see Anne Cady's vital records section). Her eldest child was Joseph, a laborer. She and her children appear in the 1880 US Census, and Joseph appears in the 1879 Ogdensburg directory. My Greatx2 grandfather, George Edward, is most likely the son of Joseph, but re-adopted back into the family as Joseph's little brother (his mother most likely an otherwise unknown Chippewa girl). Joseph had 2 brothers and a sister besides my direct ancestor. I'd like to find any information pertaining to Alfred, William J, or Elizabeth. If you've got any information, please pass it my way. I'm currently tracking the little family here: http://www.thevalleyfamily.org/getperson.php?personID=I601063031&tree=fitzvalley Thank you.

There are some early vitals available that have been compiled and also so Quaker and Congregational church records. Do you have an exact location in Vermont of where Ira was B? Pat R

Surnames: Allen Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2RB.2ACE/8522 Message Board Post: Hi. I'm trying to trace my Allen family tree, hope someone here can help. I'm a descendant of Charles H Allen, born in 1830 Norfolk, St. Lawrence, married to Almira Heaton. A son of Ira, he started his family in Norfolk, St. Lawrence, NY, but moved to Ottawa County, MI. His father was Ira Allen, b: Feb 20, 1783 Vermont married to Laura Palmer. Both Ira and Laura died in Norfolk, St. Lawrence. I trying to find the parents and grandparents of Ira Allen. Most web sites list Ira's parents as Jonathan Allen and Margaret Hoffcut. These sites list Jonathan Allen, the son of Ezekiel Allen and Sarah Hassam, as seen in. http://www.accessgenealogy.com/scripts/data/database.cgi?file=Data&report=SingleArticle&ArticleID=0000270, a web page derived from "Allen Family Records by J. Montgomery Seaver." and http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dbatten/allen.html a web page derived from "ALLEN Family of Manchester, Mass., to 1886, by J. Price.". Now I got both books, but they only go from William Allen 1602 to Jonathan H Allen July 29, 1753. They don't list Jonathan's spouse or children. So I have no direct spoof of either Ira Allen's parents or Jonathan Allen's parents. Question(s). Is Jonathan Allen, the one listed in http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dbatten/jallennotes.html, the parent of my Ira Allen ? Is his parent Ezekiel Allen? Or is it Ebenezeer Allen, uncle to Ethan Allen? Any information would be greatly appreciated...Dennis
