There are: - Otsego, about 3 miles west of Cooperstown in Otsego county - Otego, about 3 miles southwest of Oneonta in Otsego county - Oswego, in Oswego county right on Lake Ontario - Owego, about 10 miles west of Binghamton in Tioga county Part of your confusion may come from the fact that the settlement of what is now DeKalb was sponsored by Judge William Cooper, Fenimore Cooper's father. Again, as far as I know, none of the Coopers participated in the settlement of DeKalb. There is a Cooper's Falls just outside the hamlet of DeKalb. If you do a search at Mapquest, you'll find it.
Do you possibly mean "Oswego" which is in Oswego County? I have these names in my family but do not have much on them. Clara Jane Cooper married Emery(Emory) Cross and Lucinda Cooper married James Beach and after he died she married Martin Thatcher Cross. Emery and Martin were brothers to my g grandfather, Perry Cross. Clara Jane and Lucinda were also cousins of James Fennimore Cooper. I would be interested in exchanging info on the Coopers. I think there is a good chance you would find some in the cemetery records Anne Cady has put online. They include headstone photos. I believe she has completed the Ogdensburg area.
