Gary - I know there are old records for St. Patrick's but I don't recall that they go back that far. I know they go back as far as the 1870's at least. I've seen them on microfilm at the Ogdensburg Library. There may also be a copy at the SLCHA as well as though the LDS. I don't think I've seen anything back to the 1850's though. I've never really looked though. Anne **************It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here. (http://information.travel.aol.com/deals?ncid=aoltrv00050000000047)

Ann, I do not mean to interupt, but St. Patrick was built in 1852, do you know if there are any records available from the church of that time period? The "Rofsie" is because in the time frame you are referring to, any word with a double "S" like RoSSie, was written with a backwards F as the first S (i.e. - Rofsie). You'll see this consistently in words and names with double S's. The 1860 census shows Felix and Ann (along with their children B. James (age 7), John (age 4) and Mathew A (age 2) in the hamlet of Somerville (not far from Wegatchie) in Rossie. Felix was born in Canada, Ann in Ireland, the oldest two children in Connecticutt, and the last child in NY. A 1903 artcile from the "Northern Tribune" regarding the civil war soldiers from Rossie states: "Felix Agnew was born in Canada, enlisted at Wegatchie Nov 17, 1862, Co. L., 14th Artillery; taken prisoner near Weldon R.R., Oct. 1, 1863; was in Sharon prison, then in Andersonville, where he died April 29, 1864." I don't see the family in the 1870 census, but in 1880 they were back in Connecticut. There is more info on Rossie, Wegatchie, and Somerville on my webpage. Somehow, my grandfather John Putney (Issac Putney Jr. youngest brother), ends up raising a William H.(also W.H.)Putney (not sure if he was a Putney or took the Putney name because we raised him, but he "looks" like a Putney, in photos we have) in Elgin Illinois, then moving to Levenworth Kansas with the rest of the family, where he dies in the State Mental Hospital, he was a severe epileptic(sp). We have many letters from him he would have been born in the mid 1840's I believe. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They end up a few short years later, in Canada with Issac Jr. after he comes back for the younger Putney children, Docus, Sarah and (my) John, removing them from the Davis home. That is where we loose track of Sarah, and cannot locate her as dying or getting married. Anyway, I do not have all of my paper work right in front of me, but Issac Sr's Father is Joesph who was married to MethabelBrown ( we have two Methabel's one Brown, one Giles, but right off the top of my head I'm sure the Methabel here is Brown) could be Giles. With a name like that you would think we would only have one, but we don't. Anyway, any other info you may need keep in touch, hopefully someone else will read this and know where my Sarah ends up, or what happens to her.
