If it looks like it might match to your Fred, email me directly. Laura The death of Alfred Berry occurred at his home at 1:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 16, after an illness of eight weeks although his health had been poor all summer. Mr. Berry was born in, Hogansburg 75 years ago, moving here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Berry, when he was very young. He passed nearly his when he and his son, William, opened a grocery store and worked up a very successful business. Being of cheerful and kind disposition he won a host of friends, who feel the loss of a good citizen. He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Matilda Dugal; five sons, Fred, of Morrisville, Ernest, of Aldrich, Robert, of Louisville, William and Winfred, at home; five grandchildren; three brothers, Moses, of Massena, Nelson, of Chase Mills, Israel, of Raymondville; three sisters, Mrs. Elvage Weatherhead, of Carthage, Mrs. Ellen Montondo, of Natural Bridge, and Mrs. Rilla Sharlow, of Raymondville. What I have found is that in 1920, he and Ellen were in Lenox township, Madison county with their 5 children. I have also found a list of deaths for Canastota NY that has Ellen's death as 4/12/1929. This would explain why she is absent in the 1930 census. In 1930, the family was at a different address but still in Lenox township. One of the sons, Walter, my grandfather was born in Ilion, Herkimer County in 1907. The family does not show up in the 1910 census or any 1910 census for that matter. There were two Fredericks living in Ilion in 1910 according to the Herkimer Co Historical Society. The Frederick E. Berry is not the right one and I have no other record to conclude that the Frederick L. is the right one. I see that the surnames that you listed are the same. Could you have some information on the missing Frederick Berry? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
