Just go to my webpage below, go to the section on "my cemetery inventories", scroll down to Louisville, and click on Stearns. Any text in the inventory that is blue can be clicked to show a picture. Based on the time they died, I suspect it was in the vicinity of the town of Louisville (where Chase Mills is located), but you won't find a death certificate as they didn't start doing those until 20 years later. New York State did not require the recording of such information until the 1880s. In the early years it was spotty, but reporting grew better as it neared the later 1880s. She was born in about 1804 in Maryland. In 1870 and 1880 she is living in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan with niece and nephew-in-law John and Mary Coon Cliff and another neice Gertrude Dewey. She is listed as a widow. I assume she died in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan aftr 1880 because in that census she was 78. Can find no death record or burial location for her. Her sister was Sarah Warfield Coon, married Valentien Coon and lived in Manchester, Ontario, New York. Her parents were Philip Warfield and Sarah Davis from Gorham and Manchester Ontario Counties, New York. There were 10 children in the Philip Warfield family, of which we have only located six. Sarah Davis Warfield died in Vernon, Waukesha County in 1856. Any information on Susan Warfield Lafelle would be helpful. Particularly a death record or burial location. 1. Re: [NYSTLAWR] Francis Barney
    2. Joan Lalonde
    3. Hello Sue, I can't say if Bernier is in all cases the French name for Barney, but in my family I have one case where it is. I have Rose Pelno, my great-grandmother's sister, who married George Barney. My grandmother had written in her photo album that the original spelling of Barney was Bernier. This family lived in Potsdam, NY. George was born about 1860, place not known to me. He died in 1917. He was a log driver. He was trying to clear a log jam in the Racquette River. He fell off the logs and was drowned. His body wasn't found until months later. I don't know his parents. You might try this website. http://www.family-crests.com/family-crest-coat-of-arms/surnames1/anglicized-french-surnames.html Good luck.
