Ok...here goes........ My mother's side: My Jordans came from ??? Northern Ireland. Family story says it was during the potato famine, and that my great grandfather (WILLIAM JORDAN) b. dec 9, 1864, was born on the ship coming over. What ship? The first confirmed census is 1900 with William married to (#2) SOPHIA KIMMERLE (b. June 1872), her father (JACOB M. KUMMERLE) from Germany and mother (CATHERINE K. BAUS) from Switzerland, imm. ca. 1852-6 living in West Troy (Watervliet) NY. on 25th Street, and later onto 10th Avenue. Who was first wife? My goal...as you can see from the Jordan line is try to figure it all out...William father is supposed to be a William, but the 1880 and 1870 census have 2 different families...one married to a Mary C from Scotland and the other married to a Sara from New Foundland, both living in Troy. Seeing how the Kimmerle line originally moved to Troy from Yonkers...I am assuming that my Jordan's lived in Troy also. Which line is my g-grandfather from? I have talked to Jordan's from Green Island..can't match them up. I have burial records for all the Jordans and Kimmerle from Albany Rural, it doesn't help... Jordan's: William b.
