    1. [NYSCHENE] Schenectady-1870-College
    2. I have a Charles Lester, age 22, as one of 14 young men in his age range living in Schenectady and attending college in the Federal 1870 Census. Prior to that he had served in the Civil Way. Does anyone know what colleges were located in Schnectady in that time period? Do they still exist and what would be the possibility of locating any records on students from that time period? TIA Corinne

    3. Hi, You might want to contact the Schenectady Historical Society - they have a web page - they have information on Union College Alumni. Or if you want to go to the source, information on Union College's Special Collections & Archives may be found at: <http://www.union.edu/PUBLIC/LIBRARY/about/speccoll.htm> I'm making the assumption that it would be better to contact them for alumni of this era than the alumni office <http://www.union.edu/Alumni/>, which appears oriented more toward current information.
