    1. 1900 Census Schenectady lookup needed: George John Scharbach + Adeline (Adelaide)
    2. Hello, I have already found this family in the 1910 and later censuses in Schenectady City, but wasn't able to find them in 1900: - George John Scharbach, b. ca. 1860/1861 in Baden, Germany (head) - Adeline (Adelaide) Scharbach, b. ca. 1872 in Baden, Germany (wife) Both immigrated ca. 1892 and were married in 1892 in Schenectady. Adeline's maiden name was Zeller. They had children which were born prior to 1900 in Schenectady: - August, Frank Joseph, George Joseph, Martin Charles, Anna M. Would need the exact birth info for George John and Adeline (month/year) from the 1900 census. I believe both were from the town of Gündlingen in Baden. There are two persons in Gündlingen with matching info, both are related to me. One of the persons is a Adelheid Zeller, b. 1872 in Gündlingen. Her oldest brother moved to America and lived in Schenectady. I'd be very glad if someone could do a lookup for me in the 1900 census. Thank you very much in advance and for reading this Andreas Zipfel-Waag, Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany ______________________________________________________________ Verschicken Sie romantische, coole und witzige Bilder per SMS! 1. HOGAN/MULLALLY/HEFFERNAN/MULCARE
    2. Dan Hogan
    3. I have new info that my HOGANS may have connections to Troy, NY. It is starting to look as though there is a migration pattern from NY to the midwest across PA, MO and IL. My Hogans were from Ireland on the County Tipperary/Kings (present day Offaly) border, parish of Dunkerrin, townland of Castleroan/Castletown. They are intermarried with the MULLALLYS and the O'MEARA'S who are also from the same area, and the name HEFFERNAN keeps popping up as well. I am finding connections to all surnames in all the above mentioned places. Here are my HOGANS from Ireland: 1. Margaret 12/1846 2. Martin 9/1848 3. Edward 8/1849 4. Margaret 8/1850 5. Daniel 10/1852 6. William C. 4/1855 7. John 6/1857 8. Michael J. 9/1859 Margaret #4 married one John J. MULLALLY, William and Michael along with Margaret all ended up in St. Louis, MO. John MULLALLY not only has connections to Dunkerrin, but Venango County, PA where there are HOGANS as well. The MULLALLYS and the HEFFERNANS are also intermarried and buried together in St. Louis. Now I find HEFFERNANS from Troy, NY married to HOGANS from Chicago, IL, where my HOGANS ended up later, as well as MULLALLYS from Troy. Looks like a very good migration/clustering patter to me. Also, I have a mysterious "Aunt Jo", one Johanna MULCARE. No one seems to know how she fits in, but she was born and raised in Schenectady, NY. In looking at burial records from Troy, I find several HOGANS and HEFFERNANS that look "good", especially mentions they were from Kings County, parish of Dunkerrin, Ireland. In particular one Edward HOGAN, born Ireland 1848 with a wife Margaret and children Patrick, John, Catherine, and Luke. As most on this list know, the difficulty in researching Irish is the damned naming pattern, what I call the "Irish Curse" of genealogy. Dan Hogan (see what I mean)

    3. Hi Mark: I may be able to help you out a bit. As 'Ginny' the historian points out he and a brother or other family ran a place called Rudd's Beach which was located on Morris Road which was actually in the Town of Colonie between Albany and Schenectady. There was a night club there where some quite famous entertainers performed. I think even Jackie Gleason was there at one time. The 'Beach' was actually a pretty small lake that rented boats and there was fishing and swimming. I remember a water slide that one could slide down into the lake. Rudd had built a number of cabins he rented out during the summer. A few are still left which were finally bought by private owners. The lake has been filled in and the 'club' is now apartments. My Dad knew him back in the 30's and I think it was his brother who took over the cabins after the war. The Schenectady Gazette the local newspaper advertised Rudd's Beach on the movie-entertainment page in the 30's & 40's. Dean in Schenectady

    3. Hi, Mark--The 1945 directory has 2 entries: John A(Lillian) h56 McClellan and John R USN r1484 State (this is likely a young man), no widows listed. No Rodds. No FRO but there was a Frohle Laurence A, oil burner service in Scotia The 1940 directory lists him as proprietor of Rudd's Nightclub! Maybe a retirement job? 1930 directory lists him as "coal and cinders." Hope this is useful. Merry Christimas! Ginny R. 1. Alien Declarations of Intention
    2. ConnorsGenealogy
    3. I have transcribed Item 5, the alien declarations of intention for the Irish born from the court of Common Pleas, Rensselaer County for LDS film #1304663. They cover the years 1875 to 1880 and number almost 300 records. The aliens who filed the papers not only lived in Rensselaer county but in surrounding counties. Probably about half or more of the records give the county in Ireland of birth and about half of them also give the townland. This film is a huge film and dates 1855-1884. I still have two more items to transcribe. You can find the records on the Troy section of my website (URL below my name). I will also be adding a link to the Rensselaer website, Naturalizations section at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrenss2/ -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton AV2005

    3. Hi Bob, Thank you so much! The copy is light and after looking at it again, it could be Siemas F. Dwyer, residence, Villa Rd., Schenectady so it must be the Villa Road Chapel. Thank you again! Villa Road - which is not listed on my current city map - is described in the 1899 city directory as running from Westinghouse Avenue south to the NY Central Railroad. The only Thomas Dwyer listed then says "Saloon and house 440 South Centre," but there is a Rev. S. F. Dwyer, "pastor Villa Road chapel, house 33 Villa Road." The church listing in the directory includes "Villa Road Chapel, Villa Road. Rev. T. F. Duryee, Pastor." > Where would I write to find out about an annullment? The county clerk's office has those records. <http://www.schenectadycountyclerk.com/> Bob Sullivan <rsullivan@sals.edu> Schenectady County Public Library (NY) <http://www.scpl.org/> Schenectady Digital History Archive <http://www.schenectadyhistory.org/>

    3. I received a marriage document that indicates the bride and groom were married in the State of New York at Villa Road by a Thomas F. Dwyer, Minister of the Gospel. Can anyone tell me what the reference to Villa Road is? Is that the name of a church??? The marriage occurred in 1899. Where would I write to find out about an annullment?
