There are no Thomas or Comfort Burnam, Barnum, Barham, Burnham etc. that purchased property in Saratoga County by 1840, which is as far as the grantee deed index goes. There also are no entries in the Surrogate Court Index (1791-1900) for a Thomas or Comfort Barnum etc. Sorry. In 2002 Heritage Hunters printed an Index to Surrogate Court Files 1791 - 1900, Saratoga County New York. According to this index, there is a will filed for Abraham Calkins in 1833 - In Drawer Number 016, Folder 40. If you cannot get to the Saratoga County Surrogate Court yourself you might want to contact the Saratoga County Historian's office at 50 McMaster Street, Ballston Spa NY 12020, for a list of qualified researchers to assist you in searching the records of the Surrogate Court.
