    1. [NYSARATO] Letter #58

    3. Letter #58 Envelope addressed: Mrs F. D. Wheeler Saratoga Springs New York Camp near Bell Plain Va January 16th 63 Dear Mother Yours and Abbies of the 12th was rec'd to day.- The money came all right; I have not rec'd your letter telling that my things would not come as soon as expected. I rec'd the other and answered them, and sent Rose's certificate. You need not send any gauntlet gloves, for I can get a pair here, nor any writing paper, but send envelopes, that is if you have not sent the things already, but i think you have not, as White will be there before you send the valise, then you will wait for him to bring it. I am writing this in a big hurry as the mail goes out in a few moments. Judson is probably useing the Co order book, and the tactics certainly belonged to the Co. as they were furnished by Gov. Judson had a Pg2 key which fited my trunk. You need not buy the books for I can get them of Gov. for nothing. I do not eat hard tack and pork now but live very well. Mrs Pierce had not better send a box to Col McKean, he can not send it here, she had better send it directed to her husband, Co. C. 77th N. Y. V. 3 Brig 2d Div, 6th Corps Army of the Potomac, then it will be brought right to the Regt by the Provost martial, but she had not better send it at all, for we are going to move. We have just rec'd marching orders, and may go tomorrow, and perhaps not in a week, but shall move soon, then he would never receive the box. Worden has not come yet, I wrote to him yesterday. The pontoon train moved yesterday up the river, I think we are to cross above somewhere, we shall suffer a great deal in the field at this time of year. It rained all last night, and rains quite often now, making it very muddy. I hope if we move again against Pg3 the enemy that we shall either destroy their army or that ours will be destroyed, I want this thing to end in some way. I want something decisive. I am afraid we shall not succeed any better than we did the last time, for we have not been reinforced since the battle.
