There are 35 men named Elisha Freeman in the index Robert R. Freeman's book, "The Freeman Families of New England in the 17th and 18th Centuries", which was published in 2005. The Elisha Freeman (1794-1865), who settled in Orchard Park, Erie County, NY, is seventh child of Stephen Freeman (1759-1837) and Anna Baker Freeman (1759-1829). He was born in Great Lott 39 of the Second Grand Division of the Saratoga Patent (present day Easton Washington County, NY). His immigrant Freeman ancestor was John Freeman (1600-1648) of Sudbury, Massachusetts. The Captain Elisha Freeman (1731-1828), about whom Steve was inquiring, was descended from Samuel Freeman (1600-1646) of Watertown, Massachusetts and settled the Town of Half Moon, Saratoga County, NY. ----- Original Message ----- From: <BeachLdy53@aol.com> To: <nysarato@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2007 7:47 PM Subject: Re: [NYSARATO] Cemetery Lookup > Taken from _The Freeman Family Genealogy_ (http://novan.com/freeman.htm) > : > > > There is a sign on Freeman Road in Orchard Park, NY commemorating Elisha > Freeman who came to the East Hamburg area (now Orchard Park) from Easton, > NY when > he was only 17 years old, way back in 1816, when this area was still a > forest wilderness.
