August 5 - 12, 2007 Historical Week in the Town of Saratoga and Village of Schuylerville "Prelude to Freedom" TURNING POINT PARADE: Prelude to Freedom Sunday, August 5 (1 pm) Last year's parade included over 100 separate units with all the elements that make up a crowd-pleaser...16 marching bands/musical units, fire and rescue, law enforcement, re-enactors and military units past and present, the famed Keystone Kops, floats, etc. Each year we try to improve the line of march without compromising the parade's "small town flavor". We also try to keep viewing time under 2 hours so traffic doesn't get too backed up. We hope that you will consider joining us to help us celebrate! FORT HARDY WALKING TOUR Monday, August 6 (7 pm) Join Town Historian and NYS French and Indian War Commissioner Sean Kelleher for a walking tour (about a mile) of Fort Hardy - a French and Indian War fort in Schuylerville. Photos will be displayed of the various Mill sites and Mayor John Sherman and Supervisor Tom Wood will speak on the impact of industrialization in the area. Refreshments will be served.
