    2. Hello Saratoga list members, The NYSARATO-L list is relatively new. Many of the members of Heritage Hunters of Saratoga County, a genealogy-history interest group, are just hearing about this list and getting signed on. Most of our members are also seeking their ancestors and have posted their surnames and queries on the Saratoga GenWebPage which is maintained by volunteers of Heritage Hunters. We have volunteers doing data entry and out copying records and cemeteries so you need to check our web site often to see what is going on, especially your surnames. We always need more volunteers to do the data entry and you could do this from out-of-state. We will supply you with the data and instructions. We could search the archives for the previous messages on NYSARATO-L but would appreciate those who have previously posted to date send a new message and include all that you know about the people you are seeking information for. This helps others to make a connection to you and help supply you with what they have found. A good message includes their names; dates of birth, death and marriage for all; spouses complete name, children's information including their spouse, places of birth, death and marriage for all; place of burial; and allied families and their relationship to your ancestor. Connections are often made thru the allied families so they are most important to include. Heritage Hunters membership provides a great informative newsletter, a Surname Index Exchange with over 8,000 names (not all Saratoga County); and monthly meetings at the Saratoga Springs Public Library on the 3rd Saturday of each month except December. Our monthly speaker's topics provide information about everything that a genealogist would want to know, not only about Saratoga County but where to find things and how to research. Normally our meetings are from Noon to 4pm but only for this Spring we are doing something a little different. From January thru May (2000) our meetings will be from 9am - 4pm and loaded with activities and speakers on many topics of interest. Soon, in another message, we will provide this list with our scheduled meetings for 2000 which will be filled with information you won't want to miss. For more information about Heritage Hunters, you may email our membership chairperson, Carol Waldron <[email protected]> Visit our web site for Saratoga County <http://www.rootsweb.com/~nysarato/> and be sure to get your surnames and queries on there. Remember that people all over the world come there to make their Saratoga ancestor connection. Posted on our site is also all of the clerks and historians of Saratoga County plus all of the information about the repositories in and around Saratoga County that you will find Saratoga information including historians from surrounding counties. Please resend all earlier messages for the benefit of the many new subscribers.
