Dear folks on the NY Saratoga List: I've put together a brief timeline of the Connell family I am interested in from the Halfmoon / Waterford / Clifton Park area of Saratoga. I am a Dec. of Thorn Connell b. 1805 in Halfmoon. I think his father is Isaac C. Connell and his grandfather is John C. Connell. This Connell family was in the Halfmoon area as early as 1775. I need to get proof that Isaac is Thorn's father. Think MAYBE Thorn's mother could have had the maiden surname of Thorn. (?) Thorn is unusual for a 1st name. Maybe somehow the Thorn / Thorne surname figures in. I have not been able to locate any birth records, baptism for Thorn Connell. Unable to figure where Isaac Connell was after 1810 Census. Per Thorn Connell's obit he lived in Halfmoon until manhood. In the mid 1830's Thorn goes to MI. A will on Isaac would help me figure out if Isaac was Thorn's dad or not. If I only knew where Isaac was when he died! I don't see him on the 1820 Census. Another Connell Researcher thinks that perhaps Thorn Connell may have worked on the Canal in some fashion as it was being built around that time and place. Would there be any records that could verify that, one way or the other? Maybe someone could find that out from the expert at the meeting and let me know? I live near San Francisco and would appreciate any help! Thank you! Margaret Shinoki John C Connel / Connell 1760 Christopher Connell (son?) was born 7-13-1760 in Fishkill, Dutchess Co, New York. Per Aaron’s tombstone he was born July 1774 --- Per book on Schenectady families he was born July 1775. 1776 Christopher Connell resided in Halfmoon and entered American Rev. War serving under Colonel Jacobus Van Schoonhoven and Captain John Connell. (Perhaps his dad?) Christopher would have been 16 and I would think still living in parents household. His parents then would have moved from Schenectady to Halfmoon 1775 ish. (Christopher later moved and died in PA at the age of 88.) 1779 Halfmoon Tax List John Connell & John E.
