Hello Richard Please share information you have on the Hayes and Fort families of Saratoga County. Many times, people will read what you have and be able to realize they have a connection. The name Hayes will also be spelled Hay and Hays in records here. There are a few possiblities of the Fort family. Of those I have previously researched, I could not make a connection of two families but I did not pursue it past the search I happened to be doing so there might be connections if one goes further back. The Town of Moreau was taken out of the Town of Northumberland. There was an early Fort family who actually lived in the Town of Moreau before it became that town. There is a Fort road in Moreau. Also over in Ft. Edward, is the Old Fort House Museum. That was a Fort family and not named such (as I had previously thought) for Fort Edward. The Fort house is not far from the actual fort site though so I just assumed that was why it was named such.
