Greetings, I am new to this list, and researching some of the issues relating to where I grew up. I was born on a farm on the S. Glens Falls- Ft. Edward Road, known after 1863, as "The John Thompson Farm." Early literature mentions the names of two Hudson River ferries, "Rogers Ferry," and "Vischers Ferry." Does any kind soul know exactly where these two crossings were located? I thought Rogers Ferry was near the Fort Edward bridge over the Hudson, but then found the bride has been there since ~1821. One early deed describes a certain portion of land as bordering the road to Rogers Ferry, and notes that this land is in Lot 1 of the 20th Allotment of the Kayadroseras Patent. If so, that would place Rogers Ferry about 4-to-5 miles south of the Fort Edward Bridge. Vischers Ferry is probably closer to Waterford, but I cannot find it marked on any of the older maps. thanks, John O'Hanlon Tucson, Arizona
