    1. [NYSARATO] Summary of Saratogians from VT
    2. Carol asked me to summarize for the group the responses I got, so here goes. 1) Vermont was once a part of New York, but not the other way around. So someone living in the Saratoga area would never have said "I live in Vermont." Though someone living in Bennington, VT might have said "I live in New York." 2) No one had a single reason why people migrated from VT to NY, but apparently they came for better land and opportunities and at lots of different times. What I was looking for was something like, for example, the 1849 Gold Rush to California, or the 1620s Puritan migration to Plymouth Colony, but apparently no one knows of a single such motivating factor for the Saratoga area. 3) I got a couple of responses about Weeks/Wicks/Wix possibly being from NH rather than VT. Unfortunately I have no links to any in NH, but I'll keep looking! Meanwhile if any of you come across any Weeks/Wicks/Wix by the names of Daniel, Gilbert, Stephen, James, Phebe, Mariah, Barak, or John born in the Saratoga area or in Vermont in the 1750-1780 time range, I'd love to compare notes! My direct ancestors moved on to Delaware Co., OH by as early as 1810, but it doesn't mean they didn't leave a few relatives behind. 4) Someone mentioned an animated map of NY counties which is at http://www.academic.marist.edu/ssp97/animated.htm Kristi
