Dear people: It has been sometime since I last sent a message to this list. My interest in Saratoga County grew significantly in 1998 when I learned, to the wonderful thanks of Lynn Calvin, that my ancestors did in fact live in Saratoga Springs from about 1800 to 1870. On my mother's side, her paternal line of Chestney has one of its early ancestors as a chair maker in Saratoga Springs. His names, James W. CHESTNEY, b. 1797 d. 1843. He married Sarah DAVIS, daughter of Darius S. DAVIS and Mary CRAWFORD, being the daughter of Sarah (Sallie) BEMUS and Daniel CRAWFORD. I have learned much. However, the exploration continues. First, I seek to obtain any furniture that may have been made by James W. CHESTNEY or his son William CHESTNEY. Moreover, if anyone finds any facts or information, I would be most appreciative. Prior to Saratoga Springs, the CHESTNEY family resided in Albany, New York. I seek an entry in the Fourth of July Orations for Albany, NY but the one I seek is missing by a James CHESTNEY.
