My elusive ancestor is the Rev. Moses CRANE. He was a traveling Methodist/Episcopal preacher in the Saratogo Co area in the 1790s. This is what NY information I have for him Any additional information is welcome. Moses Crane b abt 1750 in NJ. he was among settlers who came to Saratoga Co in NY with the 3 McCrea brothers, sons of Presbyterian Clergyman of Lammington NJ abt 1770. Also in this party was a Capt Kenneth Gordon. Moses settled in a town called Edinburg NY Moses traveled around on his "circuit" in NY. I have found him in Orange Co, Ostego Co just to name a few. His wife who was named Sarah Peters ( I believe) must have stayed at home and raised the children, Stephen, Jane, Lottie, and Sally Crane. She died and Moses left the area and went to NJ, just across the river from Phila PA. It was here he remarried in 1796.
