Got another idea Since EVERYONE is suppose to get a Census 2000 form and required to fill it in and mail it back, why not send all of the heads of your your families a SASE with a form with everything you know about their family printed in pencil. Ask them to check the information on your form and to add/correct information. NOTE - If you include a little note with that form that reads "I am not sure the information I have on this form is correct for your family. Please check, correct and add what is missing. As it stands, this is the information I have for your family in my database and would like it correct." Then put something in there that is an OBVIOUS error so they start really checking this paper and making sure it is correct and updated. It has worked for me!! This goes to the ones who never have answered and it really bugs them if something isn't correct. Then they pick up a pencil and correct and add. This reminds me of a woman that my cousin contacted to get her family and some of her aunts and uncles all correct in his genealogy. She was rather nasty and said she would not and no one would get that info. I have to tell you I almost laid on the floor of the NEHGS in Boston dying from laughter when I found a wonderful big book on the BIDWELLS which included all of her family including her and her children and was as current as 3 years before when it was published. No, I did not make a copy and mail it to her but at least we had the info and so much more we had not found on the Bidwell lines. With the Internet White Pages, SSDI and other resources, we can do these things much easier than before.
