    3. Sonja, Do you know if the William b. Abt 1830 married an Elizabeth Ann CARTER on 3 Oct 1862? They eventually moved to Monroe Co, MI and I lost them. Elizabeth died 17 Sept 1862 in MI, so more than likely William remarried. I don't know when or where he was born or his parents. I do know that Elizabeth was the daughter of Chauncy and Huldah Isham CARTER of Cayuga Co, NY. Huldah Isham was born in Bristol (formerly known as Pockcock) VT. Her parents were David and Thankful Hooker Isham of VT. This whole group moved to MI before the 1850 census. 2. Gary & Elizabeth Kent
    3. Leslie - I can not tell who the widow Ford was, as listed on the 1779 tax lists, or who her husband was. They could have been the parents of William E. Ford born 1763 in Stillwater. William's grandson Lyman Ford writing in July 1900 states: "There seems to have been three brothers that originally came from the North of Ireland and settled near each other. The next generation (the William above) also for some time lived about the same locality but in time began to scatter about Saratoga County and later to more remote places." He also states: "Grandpa Ford (again the William above) settled in Saratoga County about Bemis Heights in Town of Stillwater some time before the War of 1776." Since William is recorded as being born in 1763, he or his brothers could not have been the spouse of the Widow Ford (he would have been but 16 years old in 1779). The family of William E. Ford in the 1790 census is pretty well established and I can share what I have if you wish it. Thomas Ford appears to have died before 1800 from falling off his Horse/Mule on returning from general training. His wife may have been Ester (born about 1770) As speculation, the William E. above was the father of William E. and the Grandfather of William E., thus it is possible he was also the son of William E. (who could have been the William accompanying Rev. Clark.) I would be interested in any data you might have pertaining to the Fords of Saratoga County (and Albany County). - Gary -----Original Message----- From: nysarato-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nysarato-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Leslie B. Potter Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2007 10:32 AM To: nysarato@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYSARATO] Cornelius Van Dyck, grandson of Cornelius Van Dyck, patentee o... Hi Gary, Yes, there are several people in the Albany County tax, militia and church records of that time. They are as follows: 1. The Widow Ford, who is listed on both the March 2nd 1779 Saratoga District Tax List and the October 23rd 1779 Saratoga District Tax List. My questions are; a) what was her first name and birth and death dates; b) who was her husband and what were his birth and death dates; c) did she have any children; d) if she had children, what were their names and dates. 2. A man named Thomas Ford appears on the 1786 Saratoga (West side) District Tax List. A man named Thomas Foard [Ford] married Addie Allen at the Schaghticoke Dutch Reformed Church on 21 Sept 1775 3. Schaghticoke Dutch Reformed Church Baptismal records show the following baptisms for Ford children: a) Abraham Ford, son of Nathaniel Ford and Geesje Francisco, born on 16 Apr 1771; bapt. on 6 Jun 1771; sponsors - Simon Cole and Hester Cole b) James Ford, son of Nathaniel Ford and Geesje Fransisco, 28 Feb 1776 c) Abraham Ford, son of Nathaniel Ford and Geesje Fransisco, 24 Jul 1779; sponsors - Neal McNeal and Peggy Van der Hoef There were three men with the surname of Ford who fought with the 13th Regiment of the Albany County Militia (New York in the Rev as Colony and State) A) Asher Ford - b 1761 in Dutchess County, NY. He was granted a Rev War Pension based on his 44 months service. He married Jane Van Horn Feb 23, 1811. He live in Queensbury the 20 years before applying for his pension. B) Thomas Ford; and, C) William. The 1790 U.S. Census Return for ALBANY County shows the following men with the surname of Ford: 1. Asher Ford living in Easton, Albany County (now Washington County) 2. Timothy Ford living in Stillwater, Albany County (now Saratoga County) 3. Thomas Ford living in Stillwater, Albany County (now Saratoga County) 4. William Ford living in Stillwater, Albany County (now Saratoga County) If anyone can shed any more light on any of these men with the surname of Ford, I would greatly appreciate your help. I am particularly interested in the Widow Ford and her husband. Thank you for your help. 1. [NYSARATO] Charles L. Brooks and others of Edinburg
    2. J. Gary Ellison
    3. I just got the Last Will and Testament (1911) of William H. Zinstine (1829-1911) of Edinburg, Saratoga Co. and it has created more questions than answers (sound familiar)! The executor of the Will was Charles L. BROOKS, a merchant/store keeper of Edinburg from what I can gather from the census. The two men who witnessed the signing of the will, Arthur S. TRACY and Charles M. SUMNER (coal vendor) were also from Edinburg. Anyone connect with any of these men? This Zinstine family has been one puzzle after another. The Will mentions William's son from his first marriage, John H. Zinstine stating that Wm. had heard from him about 15 years prior from Albuquerque, N.M. This was quite a surprise to me because John H. appears only once in the 1860 census with his family as a 9 yr child. I had presumed he had died because I have not found any other reference to him! William H. Zinstine fought in the Civil War (Company C, 77th Infantry Regiment NY). He returned home and his wife Esther (maybe a HOLMES) died in 1867. William remarries Hannah BOOTH (widow) and in the 1870 census they are in Iowa with their new baby, Adelia. Son John H. Zinstine seems to have vanished and younger son, George is in Stony Creek,Warren Co. living with Freeman HOLMES but he dies in 1876 at 16 yrs. old. Daughter Adelia herself will die in 1890 at 21 yrs of age, probably in childbirth since she was married (L. J. Freeman) and has a son William H. Freeman b. 1890. So I had presumed all 3 children died young. A "citation" was sent to inform John H. Zinstine of his father's death/will. How can someone possibly find out if John H. Zinstine ever replied? The will leaves everything to William's 2nd wife Hannah BOOTH and in her death, to grandson William H. FREEMAN living in Gloversville, NY in 1910-11. A dollar would be given to John if he made contact within a year, so there was not much incentive! I have looked in the scarce NM records and have found no John H. Zinstine of any spelling variation. I apologize for the long post but I would appreciate any ideas or thoughts on this predicament. I am not sure what to do next. Lori Ellison William H. Zinstine was the youngest brother of my 3x greatgrandfather, he was originally from Ontario, Canada.

    3. Leslie, I understand that you may be able to help with land and real estate tax records. Would you have anything on the DeMonstoy/deMonstoy family? The earliest I have is that a Lewis DeMonstoy was born there about 1793. He died about 1823 in Milton, I think. He married a Hannah Brill Aug., 1816. I can not find who his parents were, or where they came from. But, we think the father was in the Rev. War for a few months. It would be exciting to find those parents.......'Hoping you might give me some direction. Sincerely, Joanna ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leslie B.
