Is there anyone who will recommend offline a reliable, not too expensive researcher in Saratoga County? I'm looking for information on the PRINCE family. I know there is information there because I've emailed with a Historical society volunteer, but they (obviously) only do so much. I'm looking specifically for the NYS census and deed information, possibly information in a surrogate box if possible, as Job died inestate, but there is information because he had property. Or, possibly, if someone needs information from Genesee County, NY and is willing to trade, that would be great as well! Thanks! Please add my name for a copy of Leslie Potter's talk. Would be happy to reimburse any costs involved. Pat--is there any way that those of us who are too far away to attend can obtain a copy/tape recording or put a query concerning the surnames we are researching? What was the year of the Saratoga Patent? I had relys there on the 1870 Census....Alexander and Jennette (Janet) McMurray. I would sure appreciate anyone who attends to inform me of any mention of the Davis family, especially John Davis of whom there were at least 3 by that name in Saratoga County very early. I have had e-mail from Leslie but he may have something new to report other than that one had a wife named Ackerson. My Lucinda Davis was born near Stillwater, NY and was full-blood Mohawk Native. Her born name may have been something other than Davis and was taken in by the Davis family as a young child. It's just all up in the air as of now what her story may be. At any rate she was born in 1786 and died around 1860-65 in Addison, Steuben Co, NY at the home of her son, James Andrus. Thanks for any new information Leslie may talk about. Annette Campbell
That is wonderful. Leslie has worked hard on this project for a long time. I just hope for those of us who can not be there, she will post it on the Internet on the Saratoga genweb site. Thanks for informing us. Sonja Abate ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

To locate the county in which Flint is located, use the US Town/County Database at Rootweb.com: <http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi> You enter the town and state and it will provide the county for you. Hi Richard; I think he died in Flint Mich. Looking at my road atlas it's hard to figure out the county. Thanks for your help. Hi Deanna, The only death records for all of michigan that are online are for persons who died between 1867 and 1897. They are on the GENDIS website. Use Google to find the address. Some counties have better lists of deaths, but you need to know where the person died. Richard
Deanna--You need to go to a source of statewide records. There are a number of sources which will work from a name and date of death, use a search engine to find MICHIGAN DEATH CERTIFICATES. You have no idea where he lived? I have often had County Clerk's offices verify for me on the telephone that a record existed before I went ahead and ordered it. Deanna--generally the death records in Michigan are kept at the County level, then copied to the state government. The quickest and easiest way to get a Death Certificate is to write the County Clerk for the county you uncle died in, explaining that he is your Uncle. There is a fee, which may vary by county. Bring up the county's website on the internet and they will generally explain the procedure and the fee. Your Uncle is in a comparatively recent record if he was covered by Social Security, and most of the online lists are for older records.
