Her father, James Holden, is a mystery before 1850, but her mother, Gloriana, is a VanWinkle and that line is documented quite a long way back into the 1500's. In the online tree, I've included quite a bit of info about Elizabeth's siblings and their descendants, too. Gloriana was married at least once prior to James Holden. She had a daughter Rachel Romaine b.1844 from her 1843 marriage to a Charles Romaine. I don't know what happened to Charles, but by 1850 Gloriana is married to James Holden. There is also another child on the 1850 census, a 4 yr old called Silas Smith. In later censuses and other records, he is called Silas Holden. I don't know if he was Gloriana's biological child or if he was adopted. Check out my Simmons, etc. tree and let me know if you have other questions or additions. There are published genealogies on the VanWinkle line which you can purchase. The one I have has Gloriana b.1824 and her sisters, but does not include any information about their descendants.
