I live in Massachusetts and was aware that there were early Holdens here and have wondered if there is a connection. In the mid 1870's, Elizabeth Holden and her husband William Simmons came to Boston with their two sons. Their two daughters were born here 1876-1880. William was a watchmaker/jeweller, but I've never known exactly why they came here in particular. It's one of the things which has made me question a connection. I also know that there are other Holdens in New Jersey, even in Jersey City, at the same time as mine, but again, know of no connection. Thank you.
