As previously mentioned, they had other siblings, Eva, Grace, Albert, etc. From what you said, your grandfather, John Henry Betchley was her second husband. Then she had other children, including George Betchley, my mom's cousin. I remember the name Jennie, from family conversations and I did meet Harriet. Yes, George Betchley married Anna (I never knew her maiden name, but she was Italian) and they lived in Yonkers. They had a son and daughter (Clara). I found your message from ncanfield57 most interesting. There was always talk in the family that we were related to the Cornelisons who owned Salisbury Manor in South Nyack. The Manor was demolished when the TZ bridge was built. It had been built in the 1600s by a British officer, Captain Sylvester Salisbury. I never knew the connection but afte reading about a marriage between DDr. Abraham Cornelison and Sarah Williams (2nd wife), I now see the possible relat! ionship. I had researched the Westervelt, Salisbury, Cornelison web-site and came up with Abraham and Eliza (1st wife) and Sarah and then Anna a 3rd wife. They really went through their women in those days, didn't they. Anyway, George D. Williams (born July 1845), your great great grandfather, is listed in the 1900 census and even in the Morman church registry. In various census his occupations are listed as stationary engineer and boatman. A census lists the the family address at 185 Main Street, Nyack. There was also a family story that one of the Williams ancestors sailed to the US, jumped ship and changed his name from Antoinette to Williams. I don't know if this was George but I can find nothing about his parents, except they were born in New York. So, we may belong to a non-legal immigrant family!!!! There's also a Williams family story that we have some Native American blood in our line. Aunt Grace, Clara's and John Henry's sister sure did look like she had! some Indian blood running through her veins. Checking out NYS tribes , we think they may have been Blackfoot. Oh well, I find this to be fascinating. I haven't signed up with Ancestors.com. If you want to contact me directly, I'm Janetkucera@aol.com. This is getting better and better.
