Did you know that I had to sign in to the Ancestry.co.uk site, in order to send you this reply. Hmmm...don't know why. Anyway, again, I am thrilled to find your message. In answer to your questions; "Oh YES"...I would be so happy to receive copies of the photos that you have taken & the rubbing that you have made of the "Old Letchworth Cemetery Memorial Monument" engraved name of my maternal Uncle LAWRENCE "LARRY" LANGSTRAND. I would love to hear more of what you care to share about the "Letchworth Village Institution" and/or about the "Old Letchworth Cemetery. And yes, you were right. I live in the Northwest, in the state of Washington. I never met any of my extended family members who immigrated & were born in & around Brooklyn, New York. I am the only one in my family who was born out west. Never met either set of Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, or Cousins. Now that they are all gone, my Genealogy Research is the only way I can attempt to know them. :-) I realize that the times when my ancestors lived were difficult, but the story I have discovered in my research process about my Uncle Larry, really breaks my heart. I've already placed a memorial marker on the grave of one who had lain in an unmarked grave for too many years. She was my own fraternal twin who died when we were only 13 months old. I believe that GOD guided me to her grave, in Oregon, which was verified by one who kept the cemetery records of grave plots. I would also like to place a small marker on my Uncle Larry's resting place, because he has a name. He is not just an unknown number. He & his resting place deserves to be remembered. That is pretty difficult to do though, when I'm having such difficulty in finding case files or records, with respect to his residency at Letchworth Village. I'm afraid that I can't even obtain his Death Certificate, if New York does not make them available to family members, until 50 years has passed. I do hope you find this reply message, though it is several months late in answer to your thoughful & helpful "LETCHWORTH" Bulletin Board Message. Here is my Email Address, if you would like to contact me privately. Again, "Thank You" for your help & generous offer of photos & monument rubbings of my Uncle Larry's name. Most sincerely, Patricia (KNUTSON) Chaney-Hogge, in Bremerton, WA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
