John Holley b. 1715 in Stamford, Ct. married Sarah Lord. The earlier born children included a Joseph and John Holley. John was born in 1747 (some records 1751) in Sharon, Ct. FThe elder John's house caught on fire and burned to the ground. He left Sharon and lived in several differnet areas, ending up in North East (also sometimes referred to as Boston Corners are). John enlisted in the Rev War at Ancram, NY on Jan 1, 1777 for the duration. He deserted July 18, 1780. I cannot find anything about him for the first 30 years of his life (1747-1777). He deserts in 1780 and is not found again until his daughter Waitstill is born in Dutchess Co. NY in 1786. He is than married to Rebecca Lewis. He is in the 1790 census in Mount Washington, Mass. Has a 10-16 yr old white male in his household. Do not know if it is a son from a previous marriage or what. He died in Mt Washington on July 4, 1812. I am looking to f! ill in the first 30 yrs of his life. One would think he had a family. Also, why he left the war, where he called "home" during the war, and afterwards. All help greatly appreciated Allison Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
