The February meeting of the Genealogical Society of Bergen County (GSBC) will be held on Monday February 25, 2013 at 7pm at the Ridgewood Public Library, 125 N. Maple Ave., Ridgewood, NJ. The topic is "Researching Your New Jersey Ancestors." Our speaker, Melissa Johnson, is the editor of the GSNJ newsletter and a frequent lecturer for the Monmouth County Genealogical Society. She will discuss vital records at the New Jersey State Archives and Department of Health; county, state and municipal records at the NJ State Archives; NJ court records, including divorce records; Rutgers University Library, including GSNJ's collections; and the holdings of a few NJ religious repositories like Seton Hall in South Orange and the Methodist Archives in Madison. She will also discuss NJ publications (past and present), other lesser-known resources, online resources, and a few out-of-state resources that pertain to NJ, including the Presbyterian Archives in Philadelphia, which has records for churches all over the US.
