Within the Rockland Co section, the deeds on line only go up to 1890. The deed I'm interesed in is listed in the Grantor Index as being land in Suffern sold by William Bevans & wife Hannah to Benjamin J. Jones on 28 Sep 1894. The deed is found in Liber 176, Page 466 William & Hannah don't appear on the 1892 census so I thought they had died sometime between the 1880 census & the 1892 census. However, if they are selling land in 1894, they must still have been alive. Nothing in the Grantor Index indicates that they were deceased & that this land was being sold by the heirs. None of William & Hannah's male children are listed in the Grantor Index with respect to this transaction and I also checked the Grantor Index under the married names of their daughters & found nothing. I need to know just what this deed says with respect to the parties selling - Grantors. Is it really William & Hannah making the sale? Or is it heirs of William & Hannah doing the selling & who were the heirs named? I'd do it myself but I live several hours away from Rockland Co. And I tried an on line search at the Co Clerk's site but apparently the records in the on line database don't go back that far. Can someone who's going into the county offices where these records are kept look at this deed for me & let me know what it says? Thanks.
