    1. [NYROCKLA] January Meeting of the Genealogical Society of Bergen County
    2. Nancy Klujber
    3. The January meeting of the Genealogical Society of Bergen County (GSBC) will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 7PM at the Ridgewood Public Library at 125 N. Maple Ave. in Ridgewood, NJ. Pamela Redmond, author of "The Possibility of You," will discuss the genealogical experience that inspired her to write about three different women who lived in different parts of the last century. The earliest character is Bridget, who in 1916 has come to the US from Ireland, and is working as a nanny for a family in New York. The stories of one of the other women is set in the 1970s, and the third in the present time. Her research for the book gave her insights into the lives of Irish female servants, often called "Bridgets." Pamela Redmond is the author of 18 books, and a columnist for Glamour and many other magazines. Meetings are free and open to the public. For more information, visit our website at www.njgsbc.org.

    3. I'd be very interested to know more about these Bridgets. As my gr-gr-grandmother is called Bridget in a US Census, and also, now in a Westchester County Deed. But on two death certificates of her children, she is named as Catherine. Unfortunately she died quite early on, and only shows up in the 1870 Census.
