I have come across one Rockland County Secor who is going to someday get a page to himself on my website, Dutch Door Genealogy. His name is Ambrose Thersander Secor, and he was the son of Mary Haring Demarest and Timothy Secor. Ambrose's dates were 1838 to 1909. Mary Haring Demarest was the daughter of Rev. James D. Demarest and Elizabeth Haring. Rev. Demarest was notable in that he as pastor and 60+ families left the Kakiat True Reformed Church and joined the True Reformed Church in 1824. Daughter Mary married Timothy Secor, who was never even baptized, and gave his son the name of Ambrose Thersander Secor - "Thersander" being a name taken from Homer's "Iliad". Ambrose was of a literary turn of mind, and there is a sample of his work on my website, in the "John Haring, Patriot", section. Ambrose's parents did separate or divorce eventually, since they are living separately in the 1850 census, and Mary and son Ambrose were living with her parents, the pastor and his wife.
