I am currently researching my great x3 grandfather, John SNIDER, you came from New York state sometime in the early 1790s and lived in Adolphustown until 1809, when he purchased a lot in Ameliasburg, Prince Edward Co, Ontario, Canada. His wife was a Jannetje QUACKENBOSCH, and they were married in Tappan, Rockland Co, New York, in 1792. John is listed on the 2nd Regiment Prince Edward County, Ontario Militia 1822 along with several of his sons. His youngest son, David, my g x2 grandfather, was born abt 1815, and appears to have had a different mother than many of his siblings.I have found several references to there being half-siblings but I am unable to find any record of a second marriage for John. It would seem that David's mother was not the Jannetje QUACKENBOSCH, because she would have been abt. 47 years of age at the time of David's birth. I am wondering if John married a second time in Rockland County before coming to Adolphustown, Ontario, Canada. I am also trying to find John's parents ... Hendrick SNYDER married to Sarah LAKEmight be a possibility but I can't find a birth record for John listing his parents. Any help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
