Westchester County Genealogical Society (NY) Upcoming Meeting Robert Kornfeld, Jr. will speak to the WCGS on June 10. His topic will be History and Design of New York’s Croton Aqueduct System. Robert Kornfeld, Jr. AIA, is vice-president of the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct, a board member of the Historic Districts Council, and chair of the Preservation Committee of the Jerome Park Conservancy. Mr. Kornfeld prepared and researched the National Register Nomination for the Jerome Park Reservoir Historic District (a component of the Croton Waterworks) for the New York State Historic Preservation Office. He was the historian and co-author of the recently published map and guide entitled, "The Old Croton Aqueduct in New York City". He has spoken frequently on the history of the aqueduct, including talks at the Gotham Center for New York City History at the CUNY Graduate Center and the Urban Center, and led walking tours for groups including Open House New York. The meeting will be held at the Aldersgate Methodist Church, 600 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry (across from Mercy College on route 9). Guests are welcome ($3 donation is requested). There will be refreshments and genealogical networking starting at 9:30am.
