Both Duncan and Mary immigrated from Islay, Scotland to New York in 1738. I believe they were on the Kakiate Patent prior to moving to Argyle. They eventually settled in Argyle, New York. Mary is the daughter of Elizabeth Sutherland and Alexander Gillis. Alexander died in about 1737 and is buried in Bowmore, Islay. Elizabeth immigrated with Mary and several other children.
