    3. Working on the line of Gilbert JOHNSON (c1744-c1827 Rockland) who married Jane "Jinny" SMITH. The family sold Lot #10 in the North Moiety of Kakiat Patent in 1828 after the death of Gilbert. >From Rockland County Deeds and Patents, Budke, 1918. (BC-9 of the Budke Collection, NY Public Library. -Would like to find a copy of this book. It was reprinted by the Library Association of Rockland County in 1975. Does anyone know if copies are available?) Mortgage #414. Jacob VANDERBILT to Mary WALTON, Sr. 18 Oct 1765. For 150 pounds due 1747 and 96,4 pounds due 1764, 200 acres, full 1/2 Lot #10 in the Cakeat Patent. Bounds: on the south Jonathan SEAMAN, of the west Nicholas ANDRISEN, on the north Rindert HOUSE, and on the east by the highway. Deed #199. Nathan Oadle and wf Sarah of Precinct of Haverstraw deed dated 4 May 1769, for 157 pounds, a farm in the precinct of Haverstraw, 50 acres, bounds: Lands of Gilbert JOHNSON, Widow SEAMAN, Abraham BONTUS (BANTA?) and Rem. MONOOSE. Mortgage #532. John SPRINGSTEEN of New Hempstead, yeoman, to Augustus James Frederick Prevost of NY City, 4 Aug 1796. 107 acres in the eastern end of Lot #9 in the west range of lots in the North Moiety of the Kakiat Patent. Bounds: on the north by Lot#10 the land of Gilbert JOHNSON, on the east by the public road, on the south by Lot#8 the land of Johannes FISHURE (FORSHAY?) and on the west by Gilbert COOPER's land in Lot #9. (These lots are included on the map found on the inside covers of Cole's History of Rockland County.) My question is - How did Gilbert JOHNSON get Lot #10 which Mary WALTON Sr purchased in 1765? By 1769, Gilbert is listed as the owner, but there I can find no deed, will or mortgage to show how the transfer was made. Will someone more familar with Rockland County help me with this?
