I have traced my ggggrandfather William Matthews back to the 1860 census.At the time he was 42 and his wife Amelia was 41. They lived in Nyack (Orangetown)with their children Edward 27, John W. 19, Joseph B. (my gggrandfather) 17, Lacretia 11 and Alfred 8. His occupation was listed as River Pilot.
