I am looking for the Peter Grass family that came to the US between Nov 1848 and Nov 1849. (No indexes immigration lists). I have looked for passenger lists, but there hundreds of films for this time period. I think they may have settled for a short period of time in Stony Point. They were wine makers in Germany, immigrated to NY, then left for California and bought property there in 1855/56. They named their vineyard in California, Stony Point Vineyard and there is a Stony Point road which lead to their property. Peter Grass died before getting to California, so I thought he might be buried in Stony Point. Is there any obituaries or death indexes for this area? Or many be a cemetery index dating to that period? Also, I have been told that this part of New York looks very like the Rhine area of Germany.
